About Us
The Rhythm Orchestra was founded by late Sri Alok Sengupta (Bappa Da) in 1973. It began a revolution and ultimately gave rise to the thriving community of musicians and performers in this part of the country. Under his leadership, this legendary band became the most sought-after musical group not only in North Bengal but also across Assam, Meghalaya, Bihar, Sikkim, Nepal and Bhutan.
Over the years, The Rhythm has performed right from the smallest local shows right upto the biggest events for many celebrities and politicians. The orchestra has generated veteran musicians and singers across the board many of whom are some of the most respected and established artists in their field today.
Unfortunately, Bappa Da left us in 2013. Since then his son Ayon Sengupta is continuing his legacy of unmatched music and uncompromised quality of performance. The Rhythm took a break from public events due to Covid pandemic in 2020. But the band is back in 2026 to carry the legacy of this band forward.
